We need more trains and better bus services to solve our traffic problems. I shall work for integrated public transport with smart ticketing and sensible fares.
I met recently with Kulveer Granger - a Green Capital Board member and former transport advisor to Boris Johnson in London. We agreed the need for reopening our local stations such as Ashley and improving existing services through Redland, Montepelier and Clifton Down. This would reduce commuter cars on our roads and ease congestion. it would also free up space for cycling. Reducing air pollution from cars, increasing rail use, as well as investing in walking and cycling routes is surely the legacy we need to see from Green Capital.
